During the Corona Virus Crisis I decided to take part in Tom Croft’s initiative, #portraitsfornhsheroes painting a free portraits for some of our hardworking NHS front line workers, it was my way to say thank you. Take a look at Instagram for more amazing portraits; I believe something like 500 artists have taken part and I’m sure there will be many more by the time this is over. I painted two portraits, for the first two people to come forward after I made the announcement on instagram.
The first was a portrait of Linda Barry a nurse at Orsett hospital. Linda was nominated by her sister this is what she said; ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We are so proud of our sister Linda and the work she does for the NHS. She demonstrates every day how kind and caring she is towards others. She will love this portrait you have painted of her. It will give her a lift at what is a difficult time for all NHS staff. Thank you so much!”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second portrait was of Ruthie, a haematology/oncology nurse working with cancer patients. Ruthie’s mum is an Oncology manager and it’s her 60th birthday in June so this portrait is for her.
